Future Aspirations

This Morning at the senior block we had the Future Aspirations come and talk to us , Mr Patterson comes with some people that have been doing well since he meet them.Mr Patternson came to our block to talk about what we wanted to be when we grow up.There were 3 people that came to talk to us, they were Mr Samuels,Paula and Amelia.

First to speak is  Anthony Samuels, did you know that he work and products What Now.Anthony was born in Wellington New Zealand on December 11, 1972. His speak mostly funny because you showed us his old photos of when he was acting in What Now.

Paula was next, he works at Tamaki College, his job is to go around and talking to kids my age and tell them what might they want for a job. Paula told us this story about how he almost died, It was funny and sad at the same time but what cracked me up is that when the teacher marks the roll and when it comes to his name she has same kind of a mothdisess. His quote for today was that if you try stuff you might be good at it but if you don't then you don't know you are good at.

The best quote for the morning is To Miharo Hoki meaning the I can talk back to the teacher but it does not mean I can't be nice to her the next day. This will help me when I go off to college because I will be told what to do and I have to do it with out moaning.Like Michael Jordan didn't make it into his high school basketball team but now he is one of the best players of history.

Math DLO for week 6

Colour wheel

If you are new to colours then this is the place to be, with me you are going to understand the Primary Colours,Secondary colours and Tertiary colours. The first colour that you will need is thePrimary colours, the primary colours are Yellow, Blue and Red.

Now for the Secondary colours, the secondary colors are Violet , Orange and Green.If you don’t know how to  make them, then I am going to show you how to make it. With Orange you need to mix Yellow and Red = Orange. To make Violet you will need to mix Red and Blue = Violet. Last be not least is Green to make Green you have to mix Blue and Yellow  = Green.

Tertiary colours are more harder to make, we are mixing Secondary colours and Primary colours together. You have to mix  

Yellow + Orange  YELLOW-ORANG

Blue + Violet = BLUE-VIOLET

Blue + Green = BLUE-GREEN

Yellow + Green = YELLOW-GREEN

Hey if you're new to softball, then I'm going to take you on a  adventure  to show you how to play softball.In this peice of writing I am going to teach you all you need to know  about softball and how to play the game.

A game of softball is similar to baseball,the aim of the game is to get the most points by getting more  runs. What is it you have to do to win you might ask? Well there are many ways to win and is one way you can  win. The most common way  to win is by   stealing bases.The way of stealing bases is when the pitcher pitches to the batter and if he hits it then you can run to second or third.

What you need to play is softball, you will need a softball field, softball bat,softball gloves, a softball ,Apparel,softball Cleats and Protective gear.Like you know this is a team sport, not a solo sport ok,there are 3 bases in a triangle when you hit the ball as far as you can you can run to first base. If you hit it out of the park,you are not out because that is a homerun, “what is a homerun you might ask” Well a home run is when you run over all the bases. Here is the link of a home run

If you need same techniques with pitching or batting, here are some that can  help you in a game.

Most common fastpitch motion is a windmill technique, where the pitching arm starts in front of your  body and makes a  circle to get  power and speed before the ball is released.

Now here are some techniques of batting, when gripping the bat, the hitter has to push with your  fingers  not with  your palms.

You will need these skills to play softball,you need speed,agility  and strength. With speed you can get to the bases fast if you hit the ball soft.If you have good agility then you can move fast to the ball and good reflexes. If you have good strength then you can get your teams more point by getting home runs.

Ok if you can do all of those things then you will be a very good softball or baseball player. If your don't have these skills then softball is not the game for you, but if you can do all of them the you might be a star player.

   Like all adventures this is come to an end,I hope that my piece of writing has help you understand everything about softball.I will be back with same more writing about sports and how to play them. DodgeBall

Today we played dodgeball with Miss Tito, we have been learning dodgeball for the last 2 terms now , but this is the last dodgeball game we are going to have.Because next week we are going to learn how to play Kai o Rhi,now back to the game there are eight balls in the middle of the hall. Our feet has to be at the back of the red line or we wont start the game,when the referee blows the whistle you can run and grab the ball.The object of the game is to try and hit the other team with the ball, within the shoulders down. Here is a strategy that  can help you in the game, target the person that you want to get out and throw the ball at the same time.

Week 2 DLO

AFL at Ptengland School

For the last 3 weeks class five has been going to AFL.  Did you know AFL means Australian Football League. Our tutors name is Tim ,Tim takes our lessons on Wednesday mornings.

We have learnt the drop punt, the handball, the chest mark, the high mark, knee mark, faces away from laces, ice cream scoop and how to point your toe where it needs to go. I like AFL because it can help me with my sports or if I decided to try AFL.  

Swimming

For the last few weeks class 5 has been going to swimming at the pools down the road.On the first day I forgot my togs so I had to right lines the whole season. Our instructors name  was Jackie,did you know that swimming strengthens the heart and lungs and swimming works out all of the body’s major muscles.

Furture Aspirations

Today the whole of team five went into the street for a Future Aspiration talk. Andrew Paterson told us how he got into the radio business. Jason, Zona and Alfred have come to inspire what we want for a career when we grow up.  

Zona  was the best speaker because she told us what she did in primary and intermediate. One of the best things she said were five things that we could use in our lives, and the best one was .five strive to stay alive. She inspired me to  find what I’m good at and go for it, and don’t just  go with your friends and you might not like what they're into and you're just wasting your time.

The job that I want to do is be a engineer, i wanted this job because I like to build stuff and i'm pretty good at maths. Other job that I like was to be a boxer.

Science Road Show

       Science Road Show

Yesterday me and class 1,3, and 4 went down to Tamaki college for a science road show. We went down at lunch time, when we got there we went in to the hall.As I walked in there were heaps of cool toys and expirments. When we were seated, The presenters showed us that if you mix Nitrogen  and Oxygen and shake them together and it makes blue.After the show, we got to test out same science experiments. There was one when you look into the camera and it shows all of people in the room. A. Other one is there is a room full of mirrors. The two most things I like about the roadshow was the walking piano and the night vision camera. What I learnt is that our lungs takes up to 1.5 oxygen.

My Holidays

Last holidays I had such fun because I went to places cool like Jump.Jump is a indoor trampoline theme park, I went with my friends and my uncle.At Jmup you can only book online, and you get sume socks to jump with there is a Free running area, Dodge ball Court, Foam pit and Jump fit.

Sound Experiment

Today class 5 had a go at playing sound games,I played the game called Making Sound.I learnt that the bigger the gap the lower the sound, and the shorter the gap the higher the pitch.  When change the pitch you have to match it as well.

Class Fives Badminton Lesson

Today class 5 had the opportunity to go to Badminton in the hall. Our teacher was Robbie and he came to teach us how to play badminton. First thing we learnt is to hold the racket,the back hold was the first hold we learnt,and the second hold we learnt was the forehand.

After we learnt that we had a play with them and had a competition of who can do it the longest. My partner was not that good at serving but she is good at beating me. Robbie said that wait for the pad to come down then hit it.

At the end it was time to go, I had such fun that I can’t wait for the next lesson to come.

Term 2 Immersion assembly

This term it was the first day back to school, and the first thing I saw was that it  was someone's birthday. But it was just the new theme WE LIKE TO MOVE IT MOVE IT , as I walked in, all of the teachers were drest up in lots of costumes.

The first team was the team 1 they made a cool video about going to the zoo. And how it can keep the animals  and the people around its.

Oh and did I say our priceable Mr Burt was drest up in a colourful clown costume, he looked funny. After the team 1 were team 2, and they learnt about planes and what makes them fly.

Team 3 were up next, but out of nowhere balls came flying out from the perfects,when they were done  it was team 3  to take the stage team 3 talked about colours and how it moves.

Team 4  showed us a movie telling us more about what can float and what can sink. When the movie was done, they tested us about it, and they had prizes for the people that gets the answer right.

Last but not least were team 5 , team 5 are learning about sounds and what makes them. And different things the make sounds with things.

This weeks DLO for the Kaka Beak

2014 Fia Fia

It is the moment that we have all been practicing for, its the 2014 FIA FIA. Well it all started when the school had to pick a group, and the following groups were Kapa Haka , Tonga boys and girls, Samoa boys and girls , Hip hop ,Asian , Precisely That , Hawaiian Hula girls , Cook island drumming and dancing , Mid school Kapa Haka , Fijian and  Bollywood.

As I came to school its was already packed  with people , I saw my friends and we bought same candy floss , chips and a drink. As it  came to 6.00 all of the kids had to goto our dressing rooms to get ready. Miss Paget put on a movie for us until Mr Burt called us to come out and sit down, the Mcs for tonight were Esara, Gloria , Wyatt and Tyler.

To open the 2014 Fia Fia were the senior Kapa Haka they wowed us with there wayzata and a haka. When the Bollywood were on I was nervous and had butterflies in my stomach. Our Performance was mean, and after the Hip hop Me and Neo had to goto band, our band was Called Red Remix,we Performed Rude by Magic.  I was the drummer ,Neo was lead guitar,Esara was rhythm Ben was Bass , Keys were Howard , and the vocals was Anamy , Henry  and Lesa.

My Favourite act was the senior Samoa Boys because they had a cool twist in the end.

My hobbies are playing with my friends and playing on my scooter.But the one thing i don’t like his taking the rubbish out, or the dishes and mowing the lawn.  In the weekend I go to church and meet with my  friends, and go to bible studies on Wednesdays. Most of the week i have training on Tuesday and Thursdays,at 6:00 I go to training for ellerslie Eagles.

What is special to our community Glen Innes

What is special to our Community

GLEN INNES Library

Glen Innes Library is special to our community because it has been helping others and the people who work there are nice to us kids.Everyone in our community is  incurring little kids to read more at home. Even if were there and helping them they give us some water and bananas.

I think the Library is special to our community because it has been helping other people for years now.Yeah but the one thing I like about the community is the people, you get to meet the greatest friends just In one  small town.

The Library is a cool place to hug with your friends if you don't have anything to do. Schools in the eastern area we have a cluster of schools  is Pt england , Glen Innes , Raparta  , Tamaki , and Panmure primary.

How I Get To School At 8:00

Every day I get up and get ready for school.

In the morning my mum wakes me up, if I don't wake up she puts cold water on my face.When she puts water on my face I  have a shower and put my clothes on.When that's done I got downstairs and have breakfast. I make my lunch and go to pick up my friends. We walk to school at 7:45 and get there at 8:00.

At school we wait for the ball to ring and then we go to our class. My teacher's name is Miss Paget, We do writing first in the morning at 10o'clock. We change to ready in ready we do In to the book its a ready a game for us.

About Me

Hi my name is Korobeau and I go to Pt England school in Gi. Im from Gisborne  but now i live in Auckland. I have 4 brothers and 3 sisters, my favourite thing to do is playing on my scooter with friends.
