The Google Expedition

Yesterday was an unusual day for the year 7&8 students, because we had the Google Expedition come to Pt England school. The Google Expedition takes us to places that we have never heard or been to before. What takes us to these places is called Google Cardboard, when I first saw the Google Cardboard I thought is was just normal cardboard but I was wrong.

The first place we visited was the Borneo rainforest, where we saw the famous David Attenborough.I learnt the David is a famous scientist,David even has his own tv show on the Discovery Channel.I didn’t really know why he was at the Borneo rainforest,I think he was there to test out the rocks and how long it was there.

My favorite place that we went to was the tallest building in the world Burj Khalifa in Dubai. We were outside the 41st floor of Burj Khalifa,I had a look around and I saw these men cleaning the windows.I felt like I was going to fall all the way down to the ground but It was just a picture.

In conclusion the Google Expedition was one of the best events that has happened to the year 7&8 block this term.I was really sad that they have to leave because I wanted to visit some more places that I have never been before. But overall it was a cool experience for me.

College Talk with Andrew Patterson

This afternoon Andrew Patterson had came to Pt England School to talk to all the year 8 students about what to expect for college next year. Two of the most important this Andrew talked about Managing your time and how you manage it.My favorite habit from our talk was to be proactive, proactive for me is to just keep playing around and being active.

The seven good habits are:
1. Be proactive
2. Think win-win
3. Sharpen the saw
4. seek first to understand, then to be understood
5. Syenrgize
6. Put 1st thing 1st

7. Begin with the end in mind.

Amazing Race

It was a normal Tuesday, but then I special thing happened in the year 7 and 8 block.Miss Tele’a had planned a fun day for the 7 and 8 students.I thought that we were gonna play games outside, but I thought wrong.

We had to get into teams, team A and B. I was lucky because I was with all my friends. As I listened more I found out the we were going to go up against the other classes.

It was called the amazing race, why was it called that? I didn’t know. But as Miss Tele’a kept telling us what kind of activities set for us,I kinda knew what was going on here.So the actives were photo both, cookie face, fear factor and one more I can’t remember. Did I know what we were gonna do at these stations? nah I didn't have a clue.

The fear factor was funny, because the first activity was the weetbix challenge. In this challenge we had to get our fastest eater, that was me ofcourse. I thought I was going to eat it in a bowl with milk , but then I was horribly wrong.I had to eat the whole raw.

When we started, I chopped the weetbix in half to get the upper hand. As I was eating the weetbix it got harder and harder to chew because they was dry weetbix, the taste was horrible.I knew I was gonna win,Brandon ended up winning in the end.

Although I lost, l was really excited to find out what the photo booth was.The photo booth activity looked really  cool because all you do is take photos of you and your group. Our first photo was of us happy, then serous to creative. For the creative photo our group decided to make the human bike. Tevita was pedles, Wiremu was the seet, Taniela was the handle bars, Me and Sateki were riding the bike.It was going well untill I fell off.

In conclusion the fun day was actually fun then I planned. I still had the bitter taste in my mouth when we came to a close. But overall is was fun, competitive but the main thing is that we all have fun. Because we hardly have days like these.

Rugby Sevens

On Tuesday Pt England School sent our rugby team to Wesley Collage to play sevens. We had to get to school before 7:30. I found out that the principle of Wesley Collage lives in Pakuranga. As we were driving into the car park I saw there rugby fields and it was huge.

When we got into our changing rooms, we put on our boots and went out side to warm up. The first fifteenth of Wesley warmed us up to play. The other school there were Kegly,Papatoe,Pt Kegly and Pukekoe. They were all good teams and ready to play.

How to receive money.

Are you, complaining about not having enough pocket money? Well stop complaining now! because when you are finished reading this explanation you will work hard to get what you want. The purpose of this explanation is to tell us kids about being  financially responsible, and to appreciate all the hard work you did to earn the money you have.

One of safest and reliable ways of receiving income is the fact you have a job. Getting a job is the best way you can receive money because you know that you're getting paid for the hours you work. The best job is the one that suits you the most and what you are good at.

Loans are another way to receive money. You can get a loan if you need something like a car or house. After you have received your loan, you will have to pay back the amount you received. And if you want a loan there are some requirements for getting a loan. First you need a paying job, if you're just on the doll it is more likely you won't get a loan.

Busking or performing is another way to receive money. Busking is is an easy way to receive money fast. But it's all up to where you perform because there are some places that don't give you money and there are places that do.So be careful where you perform and busk.

In conclusion there are many ways in which you can receive money. However not all ways are reliable and regular. You need to think about the most reliable, honest and regular way to receive money. Keeping in mind that the money you receive will help you and your family.

Week 1 zeal zone

Last Friday Mr Wiseman started our tinkering tools and toys project, our Walt was “What can we do to make school life better”. Some of the things we came up with was outdoor furniture, shoe storage, bag storage and lots more.

We had to get into teams and discuss what we were to make our school a better place. When we have got ourselves into teams  Mr Wiseman took us out to look at what needs to make a change in our school.

Once we came back into class we had a better idea on what was needed to make or school a better place. All the teams were assigned to make four final things they were gonna make, my team the five shims came up with the idea to make cubby holes for the teachers because they have no space to put all their stuff.

The Anzac buttom

Memorial recount

Its the 25th of April 2015, the only day that spreads sadness all over our country and the world. Anzac day is to remember all the soldiers that went and fought for our country in the year 1915.
Millions of men were killed during the war, but when the they came back, most to all men were injured  from the battle of Gallipoli.

At Pt England School, we have our memorial serves after our normal assembly the whole of Pt England gathered around our memorial while the prefects were saying prays. Once they were done, we silently listened to the last post, we all shall remember all those who fought and died for us.

Polyfest

Yesterday the 7&8 block had the opportunity to attend the ASB 2015 Polyfest, and I am here to write what I really liked about poly. We went to ployfest because it was their 40th anniversary. What I like about Poly is that I learnt what Polyfest was about.

The one thing I like about the rotate's was that we learnt what 3d printer really make's at AUT, aut stands for Auckland University Of Technology. At aut you can make anything you want, you can even make spare parts for you're car without buying it. Over all Polyfest was fun.

Mrs Tele'a's birthday

In this rainy morning there was a special time in the street today, why you ask? well it was the lovely Mrs Tele’a’s 40th today. We planned a dance for the birthday girl, we were all to make a circle around Mrs Tele’a while she is do her samoan dance.

It was time to do our performance, the boys grabbed their netbooks and snuck outside and try to fool the fellow students that did not know what was going on. Hannah snuck outside and turned the music that Mrs Tele’a has put for us.

As the music began we all leapt off the tables helling che-ho-ho and started to dance in a circle waiting for Mrs Tele’a to dance with us. You know what gets to me? is that you do not have to a samoan to do the dance. Everyone was unsure what was going on and too shy to dance with us.She pulled up her skirt thats shows her tattoo that is a malu which is a female tattoo.

Out of no where Miss Peato comes and dance’s with us, it was so funny because she was laying on the ground while Mrs Tele’a was jumping over her. Miss Peato was going the samoan dance with me,Semi,Takai,Moses and Uili. Me and Takai were have a bit of a laugh when Miss Peato was on the ground hahaha.

Over it was really cool to be into the dance because i’m Maori and I don’t real know how to dance like Samoan or Tongan. And you don’t have to be Tongan or Samoan, its just all about having a go and I did.

Polyfest 2015

Kia Ora, talofa lava, malo e lelei, fakaalofa lahi atu, kia orana, bula vinaka, namaste and greetings!!  It’s Pasifika week in Aotearoa, this means it’s a week long celebration of all things Pacific.  This includes the birthday dance we had with Mrs Tele’a!  Part of the celebration is the Polyfest!  This Thursday we are planning to travel to Manukau to take part in some workshops and then visit stages.  The two stages we will be visiting will be the Maori and Diversity stages.  Did you know that this event - the Polyfest celebrates 40 years since it’s beginning?  Awesome isn’t it!

I think young men and women with their whanau take part in this event because they want to express their beautiful culture. And be proud of what their culture is and how cool it is to be in a Maori or Pacific Island.

To be in a group like this you will have to.
  • Audition
  • Practice
  • Practice
  • Practice
  • Training
  • Make costumes
  • Fundraising
  • Concert
  • Transport
  • Perform

This event is good because all the different cultures are performing their dances. And the all the cultures and make lots of friends and its a way of finding what more about what you culture is and what they perform. Its good to be different because there are lots of other culture groups there to have fun.

I am looking forward tomorrow because I want to see the Kapa Haka group they and all the other culture groups there too.

Holiday Highlights

Stay home
Play games
Christmas

In the holidays it was fun because I just stay home or go out to the park and see my friends. And that i can just watch tv all day and play games on the xbox at my friends and aunts house. One more thing about staying home is that there is no work to be complete.

At my aunt's house me and my cousin's play on the xbox or go and play outside. The most games we play is Modern Warfare 3 or mw3 for short some other games we play is skate 3,gta5,black ops and more. If we have to play outside, we go and have a swim at the pools.

This christmas was the best because I got to have the meanest presents from my mum and to see all the family. This christmas was best because we had a pig on a spit and all kinds of nice food there too. And some of the family from Australia came home for christmas as well, it  was cool because  I haven't seen them in ages.

Recount writing

Christmas is a time where we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, or for any kids its opening presents on christmas day. But for me its all about just seeing my family from Perth in Australia. About 2 weeks from day me and my mum went to go and pick up my aunty and cousin from the airport. They came but home because they wanted to spend the holiday with us.

Everyone was filled with happiness and love for them, we ended up going to heaps of new places at they have not been yet. We went to the movies, jump and to visit my koro that has past a long time ago. As it came closer and closer to christmas we all had to get ready for on the day , my mum even went and purchased a pig on a spit, and that meaning we had to go and buy some decorations  for the tree. Did you know that my aunt loves to decorate the tree? she did it all by herself because aunt loves to make it look beautiful.

Finally the day came, we had the spit going, we had everyone cooking our making more food for today but the one I really loved was my uncles famous susle chowder. He makes the meanest one man you have to try it, but it was a special day for me because I just hanged out with my cousin that I haven't seen for 3 years so It was good to catch up with her.

As the day continued we finally lunch, there was plenty on delouses food like pig, pork, fruit salad and lot’s more. I was really happy it was lunch because I was starving to death, after we had the karakia I plunged my self in and got heaps of food. When we were done there was still enough to feed us for the rest of the day.

Soon after we had our photos with nan and koro, it was cool to take photos with the family once again because it has been a long time since we have had our photo taken as a one hole family.

As the day came to an end, it was cool to spend my christmas holidays with family that I have not seen for 3 years. But I am going over to perth this year to spend my holds with my older sister and the rest of the family.

First day back to school

The first day of school was cool because I met my new teacher Mr Wiesman, he is pretty cool because we play this game called silent ball. We met some new kids that came to our school and they are nice and cool, the senior block was some new teachers that are Mrs Peato,Mrs Clark,Mr Wiesman and Mrs Moala.

After morning tea we went in to the sreet to learn about the room points, once we were done we played another game of silent ball. Once we have won we came inside and work on our letter to him, then it was lunch. When it was over we came in and carryed on our writing.

My goals for this term

This term for my goals will be to finish all my work on time and to move a level up in maths because I don't really get measurement. Also one of the three goals is to get fit so can do the best I can be to make it in to the NRL in my dreams. The last goal for this term is to get to know my teacher and to interact with Mr Wiseman.
